A Microsoft Copilot Workshop Agenda for Employees

Plan a practical Microsoft Copilot workshop with account checks, guided tasks, output review and a useful follow-up exercise for employees.

In brief

The practical answer

A useful Copilot workshop moves from account readiness to a familiar work task, guided practice, independent review and a repeatable workflow. Choose the apps and exercises after confirming what the participants’ Microsoft 365 environment supports.

Define one outcome for the day

Choose an outcome such as preparing a reviewed management update from an approved pack. Identify the roles that produce, check and use that update. A single connected workflow is easier to assess than a rapid tour of many features. Ask participants about prior experience so the trainer can distinguish account problems, prompting problems and subject-matter questions during the workshop.

Prepare access before live teaching begins

Have the IT owner confirm the accounts, app versions, licences and organization settings needed for the agreed exercises. Run a short access check using non-sensitive files. If an app feature is unavailable, decide whether a Copilot Chat exercise teaches the same learning objective or whether the activity should be rescheduled. Avoid discovering these dependencies while an entire cohort waits.

Use a demonstration that includes a mistake

Show how the assistant drafts from a limited source and how a reviewer finds an unsupported statement. Ask participants to predict which parts need checking before showing the final correction. This helps them understand that the goal is a reviewed work product. It also makes room to discuss when a better prompt is useful and when missing source material must be obtained from a person.

Give learners time to do the work

After each short demonstration, let participants complete a comparable task and explain their checks to a colleague. Supply a complete input and a second input with a contradiction or gap. Keep the expected output modest enough to review during the session. A learner who can identify a limitation has demonstrated a more useful skill than one who merely repeats a memorized prompt.

Close with transfer to the workplace

Each participant records the source boundary, task instruction, review checklist and named workflow owner. Managers choose an approved follow-up task for the next week. The trainer can use questions from that practice to scope a later clinic. Confirm these follow-up arrangements in the proposal; a sample agenda is not a promise that every workshop includes ongoing support.

A worked planning example

Fictional example

In a fictional reporting lab, a manager receives a source table showing a delayed milestone. Copilot produces a fluent update that calls the project “on track.” Learners must preserve the delay, identify the affected commitment and explain why style alone cannot be the assessment standard.

Questions about this approach

Can this become a half-day or full-day agenda?

Yes. Adjust the number of exercises and depth of role-based practice after assessing the audience. Keep time for independent work and review in either format; the final timings are agreed in the training scope.

Can NMR Infotech help adapt this plan?

Yes. Share your participant roles, location, current tools and target workflow. The agenda, duration, delivery arrangements and follow-up are confirmed in an agreed training scope.

How can you put this guide into practice?

Choose one task owner and a small permitted example. Write down the expected output, who will review it and what would make the result unsuitable for use. Run the exercise, record corrections and decide what must change before repeating it.

Keep the first version easy to inspect. Do not treat the example as evidence that an entire process can be automated or that a particular tool is appropriate for every kind of information.
